A&W Releases New 3/9 lb. Burger

A&W looks to turn their most embarrassing moments into a tale of triumph with the release of the new 3/9 lb. Burger.

Back in the 1980s, A&W tried to compete with McDonald’s Quarter Pounder by offering a bigger, juicier 1/3 Pound Burger for the same price. However, fans wrongly assumed that the Quarter Pounder was bigger than 1/3 and the whole thing went down as one of the biggest marketing fails in fast-food history.

So in order to make amends for their decades-old marketing mishap, A&W is cleverly rebranding the 1/3 lb. burger with a new name that’s more reflective of what it’s really all about.

The new burger features two 100 percent US Beef patties, two slices of melted American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mayo, all on a lightly toasted bun.

The 3/9 lb. Burger will be available at all participating US locations nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last. If sold out, a 2/6 lb. Burger can be specially made at no additional cost.
