Detroit-Style Pizza Returns To Pizza Hut With New ‘Create Your Own’ Recipe Option

Detroit-Style pizza returns to Pizza Hut restaurants nationwide nationwide for a limited time. And to celebrate, the chain is giving Hut Rewards members early access to indulge in its caramelized crust glory beginning August 24, while the rest of the world can get their hands on a thick, square slice starting August 25, 2021.

Pizza Hut’s Detroit-Style pizza is rectangular-shaped, loaded up with cheese all the way to the edge, creating a caramelized crust, covered with toppings and a layer of premium vine-ripened tomato sauce.

This time around – and for the first time – Pizza Hut is introducing a new ‘Create Your Own‘ option which allows fans to customize their Detroit-Style pizza with up to five toppings.

In addition to the new ‘Create Your Own’ option, Pizza Hut is also bringing back three handcrafted signature recipes for those who enjoyed last year’s original offerings:

  • Double Pepperoni: A large rectangular pizza, complete with 32 slices of regular pepperoni and 48 slices of the brand’s signature Crispy Cupped Pepperoni.
  • Meaty Deluxe: Loaded with bacon, Italian sausage and Crispy Cupped Pepperoni
  • Supremo: Topped with Italian sausage, red onions and green bell peppers

Pizza Hut said in a press release that when the Detroit-Style pizza debuted back in January, it was in such high demand that it sold out two weeks earlier than expected. According to David Graves, General Manager at Pizza Hut, this is the fastest they’ve “brought back a pizza in over 10 years.”

The Detroit-Style pizza is available at participating Pizza Hut locations nationwide for contactless delivery, carryout, curbside pickup or the recently introduced digital order pickup window, The Hut Lane.
