As the chicken sandwich wars rage on, McDonald’s looks into expanding the chicken options on the menu with a limited time test of two new Crispy Chicken Sandwiches in Houston, TX, and Knoxville, TN.
The new menu items include a Crispy Chicken Sandwich and a Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Both sandwiches feature a new chicken fillet that differentiates them from current options such as the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the McChicken.
The new Crispy Chicken Sandwich comes with a fried chicken fillet topped with butter and crinkle-cut pickles on a potato roll. While the Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich consists of a fried chicken fillet topped with butter, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo on a potato roll.
McDonald’s hinted at the news yesterday with a tweet that said “Houston. Knoxville. Lunch tomorrow? No beef.”
They also took a jab at Popeyes and Chick-fil-A by sharing a photo of a foil bag along with a chicken emoji. Based on that tweet it looks like McDonald’s will also be serving its new chicken sandwich in a foil bag, just like Popeyes and Chick-fil-A.
