Subway is expanding its Subway Series menu with the introduction of a brand-new category called Deli Heroes, a collection of deli subs that showcases the brand’s new freshly sliced meats in a variety of authentic, deli-style sandwiches that can be ordered by name and number.
According to a press release, the arrival of freshly sliced meats in US restaurants represents the latest and biggest change since Subway began focusing on improving all aspects of the guest experience, headlined by a revamped menu which rolled out in 2021.
Described as one of the most complex changes the chain has ever made, Subway spent over two years and $80 million in deli meat slicers to prepare for the launch of freshly sliced meats in its US restaurants. As part of the process, Subway installed a deli meat slicer in 20,000 locations and gifted them to all US franchisees.
The Ultimate Deli Sub
Subway’s culinary team spent over a year to create a new line of classic deli-style sandwiches that highlight its new meat slicer. The Titan Turkey and Grand Slam Ham include 33 percent more protein than traditional subs, and the Beast comes with a half pound of meat. All Deli Heroes feature double the cheese, served on the chain’s signature baked bread with the perfect combination of sauces and freshly sliced vegetables.
Here’s a closer look at Subway’s new Deli Heroes:
- Titan Turkey (#15): Turkey paired with double provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and mayonnaise, and served on Artisan Italian bread.
- Grand Slam Ham (#99): Ham paired with double provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and mayonnaise on Artisan Italian bread.
- Garlic Roast Beef (#17): Roast Beef paired with double provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and Roasted Garlic Aioli, and served on Artisan Italian bread.
- The Beast (#30): Pepperoni, salami, turkey, ham, and roast beef, plus double provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, mayonnaise, and MVP Vinaigrette, all served on Artisan Italian bread.
To help fans taste the difference, Subway will put the new meat slicers to the test by offering up to 1 million free six-inch Deli Heroes at participating locations across the country on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 between 10 a.m. and noon local time. At participating restaurants, the first 50 guests to ask will receive a 6-inch Deli Heroes sub for free. Limit of one per person, while supplies last.
