Subway has teamed up with food tech startup Hero Labs Inc to test a new one net carb bread option at select locations in several markets, including Savannah, GA, Des Moines, IA, Colorado Springs, CO, and Boise, ID.

During the test, fans will be able to select Hero Bread as the bread choice for any Subway sandwich. Hero Bread’s sandwich roll has been designed to look, smell and taste just like the chain’s traditional bread, but boasts an improved nutritional profile. Each six-inch sub roll has 0g sugar, 1g net carb, 100 calories, 12g protein and 26g fiber.

To help announce the chain’s new product test, seven-time Super Bowl champion and Hero Labs investor Tom Brady shared a fun clip on social media of him eating a Subway sandwich made with Hero Bread.

Hero Bread sandwich rolls will be available in select markets across the country through mid-December 2021.

Additionally, beginning on November 5, 2021, fans in other markets can visit Hero’s website at hero.co/vote to nominate a US city for Subway to bring Hero Bread to next, as well as enter for a chance to win free Hero Bread rolls and branded swag as part of the Hero Bread Launch Sweepstakes.
