In celebration of National Taco Day, Taco Bell is teaming up with language-learning platform Duolingo to take the occasion global for the first time, introducing Global Taco Day, the new Duo Habanero Sauce, taco-themed language lessons and more at participating locations starting October 6, 2026.
Created exclusively for the Taco Bell x Duolingo collaboration, the new Duo Habanero Sauce combines bright, tangy flavors with fruity notes and a kick of habanero heat.
Duo Habanero Sauce packets will feature taco-related messages in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. The limited-edition designs pair Taco Bell’s familiar packet text with Duolingo’s language-learning focus. In international markets, the language selection will vary by country, reflecting local languages and those most commonly studied by Duolingo users.
Duo Habanero Sauce will be available beginning October 6, while supplies last, at participating Taco Bell locations in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain and the UK. In the U.S., customers who purchase a Doritos Locos Taco can receive one sauce packet at no additional cost, while extra packets will be sold separately for $0.20 each. Participating restaurants in Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain and the UK will offer complimentary packets through market-specific Global Taco Day promotions.
To keep the celebration going, Taco Bell and Duolingo are offering additional Global Taco Day promotions. From October 1 through October 6, Taco Bell Rewards members can claim one free month of Super Duolingo; codes must be redeemed by November 15 and remain valid for 30 days after activation.
The companies will also release 1,000 limited-edition Taco Bell x Duo plushies worldwide. In the U.S., Taco Bell Rewards members can enter for a chance to get one through the Tuesday Drops page on October 6 at 2 p.m. PT, while supplies last. Fans in the UK, Canada, India, Australia, China and Spain can access local plushie promotions.
Duo and friends will appear at the Taco Bell Midtown Cantina in New York City on October 6 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. ET. The one-day event at 976 6th Ave. will include taco-themed language activities, Duo Habanero Sauce, giveaways and merchandise, while supplies last.
And on October 6, Taco Bell and Duolingo will host Global Taco Day events in Mumbai, Toronto and Shanghai, featuring Duo appearances, giveaways and merchandise while supplies last. Activations will take place at Phoenix Marketcity Mall in Mumbai, Taco Bell at 252 Church St. in Toronto and 55 Century Ave. in Shanghai.
