Taco Bell is kicking off the new year by announcing the return of their beloved potatoes and a new partnership with Beyond Meat.
For those of you who may not remember, Potatoes were discontinued from menus last year as part of the chain’s effort to streamline the menu to make ordering easier, safer, and faster during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Upon their return on March 11, 2021, Potatoes will be available as part of two classic fan favorite items: Spicy Potato Soft Taco and Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes.
The Spicy Potato Soft Taco consists of crispy potato bites topped with shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, and chipotle sauce, all in a warm flour tortilla.
Meanwhile, Taco Bell’s Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes feature crispy and spicy chunks of seasoned roasted potatoes, warm nacho cheese sauce, and tangy sour cream.
The Spicy Potato Soft Taco will be available for a suggested price of $1 and Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes will set you back $1.49, though prices may vary based on your location.
Additionally, fans looking for a plant-based option or just wanting to cut down on their meat intake can substitute AVA-certified vegan potatoes or beans for any other protein on the brand’s menu.
Taco Bell and Beyond Meat Partnership
In addition to the returning menu items, Taco Bell also announced that it’s partnering with Beyond Meat to create an innovative plant-based protein that will be tested next year. For years, Taco Bell has been a destination for vegetarians, but this will be the chain’s first foray into plant-based meat alternatives in the US.
With that said, if the plans for a new plant-based protein come to fruition, it will likely join other veggie favorites that even meat-loving fans crave such as the Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme, the classic Cheese Quesadilla, and the Black Bean Chalupa.
Taco Bell’s potatoes will be available at participating locations nationwide beginning Thursday, March 11, 2021.
