The Halal Guys Launches New Meatless Gyro And Eggplant Hummus

The Halal Guys is stepping into the plant-based meat game by introducing a new Meatless Gyro at participating locations.

The new Meatless Gyro, which is described as a healthy, gluten-free alternative to beef, is made with pea protein, beets, coconut oil, brown rice, Halal Guys spice mix, mushrooms, and paprika.

The Meatless Gyro is available as a platter or as a sandwich, both of which can be topped with the brand’s special new Vegan Tzatziki Sauce made with aquafaba, which is the liquid leftover from cooked chickpeas.

The Platter comes served over rice, with a salad of lettuce and tomatoes, plus your choice of toppings, and finished with a drizzle of tzatziki or hot sauce.

Meanwhile, the Sandwich features warm pita bread filled with meatless gyro, lettuce, tomato, plus your choice of toppings and a side of the chain’s new special tzatziki sauce or hot sauce.

With 14 grams of pea protein per serving and no cholesterol, the new addition is definitely a great option for anyone on a plant-based diet.

Also, it’s worth pointing out that the brand’s traditional white sauce and Hot sauce are not vegan. So if you want a 100% vegan meal, ask for the new Vegan Tzatziki Sauce instead.

The Meatless Gyro Platter starts at $10.99, while the Meatless Gyro Sandwich goes for a suggested price of $9.99. Prices may vary depending on your location.

Additionally, the chain is also adding a new Eggplant Hummus to the menu made with chickpeas, mixed with tahini sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, and spices. It’s a 100 percent vegan option that can be enjoyed on its own as a side dish or on a platter or sandwich.

Both the Meatless Gyro and the Eggplant Hummus are available now at participating Halal Guys locations across the country for a limited time.
