Airheads makes its entry into the ongoing chicken sandwich wars with the launch of a new fried chicken sandwich made with a 100 percent Airheads candy bun.
The Airheads Chicken Sandwich features a crispy fried chicken breast fillet with pickles, coleslaw, and spicy mayo served on a bun made with Airheads Xtremes.
Airheads Candy has been in the food business since 1985, but this is the first time they’ve ventured outside of candy. So what? Craig Cuchra, VP of Marketing for Perfetti Van Melle North America, maker of Airheads, says that there’s a “precedent of people not ever doing something before and then suddenly doing the thing they never did” and on July 6, 2021, which is National Fried Chicken Day, “the world will finally see what’s been missing in chicken.”
Airheads doesn’t own any restaurants or brick and mortar locations to sell the new Airheads Chicken Sandy. Instead, they’ve rented a food truck, although they still haven’t said where it will be located.
