Baskin-Robbins and Pepsi are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the ice cream float by offering one lucky winner a free ice cream float each week for a year, from October 15 to November 12, 2024

More specifically, starting on Tuesday, October 15 and running until Tuesday, November 12, participants can enter for a chance to win free ice cream floats for a year by ordering an ice cream float made with any PepsiCo drink from Baskin-Robbins (or by purchasing two scoops of ice cream along with a PepsiCo beverage). To enter, simply text “FLOAT” along with a photo of your receipt to 23955. In addition, 150 lucky winners will receive $20 gift cards for Baskin-Robbins. There’s also an option to participate without making a purchase. For more details, you can check out the official rules here.

The ice cream float has been a cherished dessert since its accidental invention in 1874 by Robert M. Green. During a sweltering day in Philadelphia at a celebration marking 50 years, Green found himself without cream for the soda creams he was offering. In a moment of ingenuity, he borrowed vanilla ice cream from a nearby vendor, giving birth to the iconic ice cream float we know today.

Additionally, Pepsi and Baskin-Robbins are introducing a special one-day role for their new Chief Floats Officer, professional dancer Alan Bersten, as part of the festivities for this significant occasion.

Alan believes that enjoying a sweet treat should be a daily indulgence, and after a long day of dance practice, nothing cools him down like an ice cream float. In his role as the temporary “CFO,” Alan will promote the free float giveaway from Pepsi and Baskin-Robbins while celebrating the milestone of their 150th anniversary.
