McDonald’s introduces new plant-based burger in Canada, becoming the latest fast-food chain to partner with Beyond Meat.
The new burger, called P.L.T., will be available at 28 select test locations in Southwestern Ontario starting Monday, September 30, 2019.
For those wondering, P.L.T. stands for Plant. Lettuce. Tomato.
The new P.L.T. burger comes with a Beyond Meat plant-based patty, topped with melted cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo-style sauce, mustard, and ketchup on a sesame seed bun.
According to a press release, the plant-based patty has no “artificial colors, artificial flavors, or artificial preservatives.”
However, the burger may not be considered vegan as it contains cheese and is cooked on the same grill as other meat-based products and eggs.
The new plant-based burger will be available at participating locations in Canada for about 12 weeks. You can try one for $6.49 CAD, which is about $4.90 in U.S. dollars.
