The wait is over! Popeyes new Chicken Sandwich is finally hitting menus nationwide this month.
The sandwich which comes in mild and spicy, will be available at participating locations nationwide beginning Monday, August 12, 2019.
However, fans can try the new menu item at Sweet Dixie Kitchen from August 8 to August 9 before it rolls out nationally to every Popeyes restaurant in the country.
For those unfamiliar with Sweet Dixie Kitchen, it is a trendy brunch spot in Long Beach, CA, that went viral overnight after owner Kim Sanchez was spotted walking through the door with Popeyes bags.
According to a press release, “People freaked out, and the backlash on social media sparked what was aptly named #POPEYESGATE.”
Kim Sanchez, owner of Sweet Dixie Kitchen, said she thought Popeyes was calling to sue her. But, surprise, surprise, they were actually calling her to collaborate on the brand’s biggest product launch in 30 years.
Popeyes Chicken Sandwich features a buttermilk battered and hand breaded 100 percent white meat chicken filet, topped with two barrel cured pickles and your choice of classic mayo or spicy Cajun spread served on a buttery, toasted brioche bun.
The sandwich has been available at select locations in the U.S. since this Spring, with prices ranging from $3.99 to $5.99.
