In celebration of the upcoming North American Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, Sonic is taking fans on an extraterrestrial adventure with the introduction of the new, limited-time Blackout Slush Float starting March 25, 2024.
Additionally, and while supplies last, every Blackout Slush Flush purchase will also include a pair of free solar eclipse viewing glasses so customers can safely observe the sun and create everlasting memories of this significant event.
The all-black slush drink features a combination of sweet, cotton candy and dragon fruit flavors, topped with creamy white soft serve and blue and purple galaxy-themed sprinkles.
Sonic is also joining forces with former NASA astronaut and International Space Station commander Terry Virts to offer advice on how to maximize the enjoyment of the total solar eclipse. Virts, a veteran of two space flights who has witnessed an eclipse from the International Space Station (ISS), highlights the importance of this rare occurrence, happening just once every then to twenty years.
Fans planning to view the North American Total Solar Eclipse from Sonic are advised to get their eclipse viewing glasses, free with every Blackout Slush Float purchase, in advance given their limited availability. Then, on April 8, customers can return to Sonic to enjoy the new drink and check out the solar eclipse from a safe viewing spot.
The Blackout Slush will be available at participating Sonic locations nationwide for a limited time from March 25 through May 5, 2024, while supplies last. Prices may vary.
