Taco Bell revealed today that it is giving all Taco Bell Rewards Members the chance to leave their own personal mark (via fan poll) on the chain’s famous hot sauce packets.
The poll will call on hot sauce fans and connoisseurs alike to choose their favorite hot sauce sayings from July 18 to July 23, 2023 in the Taco Bell app, with winners announced on July 24. This fan poll is the first step in a larger sauce packet redesign planned for next year and which will introduce brand-new colorful designs and catchy phrases.
The brand’s sauce offerings started out with just two flavors, Red Chili and Green Chili, served in plain, unbranded plastic cups. Taco Bell introduced peel-off lid cups in the mid 1970s, followed by its iconic sauce packets, as they are known today, in the mid 1980s.
Currently, there are 5 sauce options – Mild, Diablo, Hot, Fire and Breakfast Salsa – each with its own unique saying, which were first introduced back in 2004. These cultural phenoms have inspired Halloween costumes, helped a man survive while being trapped in a snowstorm for five days, and guided fans on how to Live Más with lines like “Marry Me!” and “Double Dare You,” among many others.
Beginning today, Taco Bell Rewards Members will be able to participate in a selection survey in the app by choosing their favorite sayings from three available options per sauce flavor. Sayings such as “If you won’t, I will,” “Entering my _ era” and “What’s your @” could soon be featured on the brand’s hot sauce packets, but it’s all up to fans to decide. The most voted phrases for each hot sauce packed will be unveiled on July 24, 2023 in the Taco Bell app.
