Carl’s Jr. is offering a new version of its popular Beyond Famous Star sandwich made with 100 percent plant-based meat.

Not to be confused with the chain’s Beyond Famous Star Sandwich. The Beyond Famous Star with Cheese Burger features Beyond Meat’s plant-based Beyond Burger patty. And that makes it the world’s first plant-based burger that looks and tastes like real beef.

The Beyond Famous Star with Cheese Burger comes with a quarter pound Beyond Burger patty, melted American cheese, Carl’s Jr special sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomato, dill pickles, and onion, all served on a sesame seed bun.

Apart from cooking, looking, and tasting like real beef, Beyond Meat’s plant-based beef patty also has 20 grams of protein. And it does not contain soy, gluten or GMOs.

But where does the protein come from and is it Certified Vegan?

Protein content found in The Beyond Burger comes mainly from peas, but it also includes protein from other sources such as mung bean and rice.

Although Beyond Burger patties are certified vegan by the Vegan Awareness Foundation, the burgers at Carl’s Jr are not certified vegan.

Why? Because the chain prepares all its products in kitchens that also prepare animal-based products.

Also, the Beyond Famous Star with Cheese includes mayo, and mayo has eggs. However, the bun and the sauce do not contain eggs, dairy, etc.

But you can customize it and make it as vegan friendly as possible by simply omitting the cheese and mayo.

Carl’s Jr Beyond Famous Star with Cheese Burger is available at a suggested price of $6.29. And you can also Go Beyond on any sandwich at Carl’s Jr by swapping the beef or chicken patty for a Beyond Burger patty.

Keep in mind that Going Beyond on any menu item will cost you an extra 2 bucks per patty.

The Beyond Famous Star with Cheese Burger is now on the Carl’s Jr menu at participating locations nationwide.
