Wienerschnitzel Tests New Field Roast Plant-Based Hot Dog

Wienerschnitzel is partnering with Field Roast Grain Meat Co to test a new plant-based hot dog called the “Field Roast Signature Stadium Dog.”

The new Field Roast Signature Stadium Dog is the first naturally smoked premium plant-based hot dog made from pea protein, rather than soy. And it will also be the first plant-based hot dog to be offered alongside traditional beef dogs when it becomes available in retail stores later this year.

The Field Roast Plant-Based Dog is available at select Wienerschnitzel locations in California, Texas, and New Mexico and is currently appearing on menus as “Backyard Veggie Dog”, “Chicago Veggie Dog”, and “Barbeque Veggie Dog.”

Field Roast double smokes its Plant-Based Dog using maple hardwood chips and a combination of steam and dry heat to deliver the flavor and texture that fans crave on both game day and non-game day events such as backyard barbecues.

The Signature Stadium Dog also offers the same amount of protein as most traditional hot dogs and has less sodium.

Doug Koegeboehn, Chief Marketing Officer of Wienerschnitzel, says that “if these plant-based offerings perform well in test markets, it’s something that they would be happy to offer chain-wide later this year.”
